{"id":3858,"date":"2013-11-12T10:05:55","date_gmt":"2013-11-12T00:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/plate4eight.com\/?p=3858"},"modified":"2023-06-19T19:04:41","modified_gmt":"2023-06-19T09:04:41","slug":"ginger-beef","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/plate4eight.com\/?p=3858","title":{"rendered":"Ginger Beef"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/plate4eight.com\/?attachment_id=3859\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3859\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3859\" alt=\"securedownload (9)\" src=\"http:\/\/plate4eight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/securedownload-9.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"478\" srcset=\"https:\/\/plate4eight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/securedownload-9.jpg 640w, https:\/\/plate4eight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/securedownload-9-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I have been so busy exercising my Mummyness lately (that&#8217;s code for cleaning and re-organising my house) that I haven&#8217;t had time to share some of the great recipes I collected from my mother-in-law&#8217;s stash of cookbooks. &nbsp;But today I have decided to take a quick break and share this recipe for Ginger Beef. &nbsp;We like it so much we have had it twice in the last week. &nbsp;Well, the fact that it&#8217;s super-quick and I generally have all of the ingredients in my kitchen is another reason we have had it twice in the last week, but I&#8217;m going to go with &#8220;We really like it!&#8221; &nbsp;Mr 8 tells me the flavours are very authentic and it&#8217;s just like he has it in Malaysia, which has practically been his home away from home for the last 10 years, so that&#8217;s pretty decent praise, don&#8217;t you think?!<\/p>\n<p>I added some sliced chilli to the recipe, so if you don&#8217;t think the kids can handle it, just exclude it and you&#8217;ll still have a great mid-week meal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ginger Beef<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Serves 4<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>500g Rump steak, thinly sliced<\/p>\n<p>2 tsp Cornflour<\/p>\n<p>2 tsp Oil<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp Soy Sauce<\/p>\n<p>125g Piece Ginger<\/p>\n<p>2 Tbl White Vinegar<\/p>\n<p>2 tsp Sugar<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp Salt<\/p>\n<p>2 Tbl Oil<\/p>\n<p>1 Red or Green Capsicum, roughly chopped<\/p>\n<p>6 Shallots, thinly sliced<\/p>\n<p>1 Red Chilli, thinly sliced<\/p>\n<p>Rice to serve<\/p>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Place the thinly sliced steak in a bowl.<\/p>\n<p>Combine the cornflour, oil and soy sauce in a small bowl, mix well and then pour mixture over the steak.<\/p>\n<p>Stir to ensure steak is thoroughly coated with the marinade and set aside for at least 20 minutes.
