{"id":4508,"date":"2022-04-02T18:31:28","date_gmt":"2022-04-02T08:31:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/plate4eight.com\/?p=4508"},"modified":"2023-06-19T18:50:46","modified_gmt":"2023-06-19T08:50:46","slug":"beef-korma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/plate4eight.com\/?p=4508","title":{"rendered":"Beef Korma"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Curry is my comfort food, and I love a good, quick curry I can throw into the slow cooker or pressure cooker on a busy night when I don&#8217;t have much time to get dinner on the table, but I don&#8217;t want to buy take-away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can take the time to make your own Korma paste, which makes this dish devine, but on a busy night a bought jar of Korma Paste (I love Patak&#8217;s) will do the trick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have a Philips All-In-One Cooker, so I can sear the meat in the cooker before slow cooking or pressure cooking, but if I&#8217;m in a real hurry I don&#8217;t bother browning the meat and it turns out just fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 Tbl Olive Oil (if browning the meat)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1kg Diced Beef (gravy beef or chuck beef) I sometimes dice up a blade or rump roast<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 Cup Sliced Onion (diced if you prefer)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1\/4 Cup Korma Paste<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 Cup Water<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 Cup Natural Greek Yoghurt<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1\/4 Cup Coriander leaves, roughly chopped<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Method:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If browning the beef, heat the oil in a pan and once hot add beef, browning lightly on all sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Transfer beef to your slow cooker or pressure cooker and add remaining ingredients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You know your slow cooker or pressure cooker best, so set it to cook for the desired time and walk away.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This recipe typically serves 4, so we double it for our family and I set my pressure cooker to the meat setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Korma Paste<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 tsp Cumin Seeds<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 Tbl Coriander Seeds<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1\/2 tsp Ground Turmeric<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 Tbl Garam Masala<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 tsp Chilli Powder<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 Tbl Olive Oil<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4 Garlic Cloves<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5cm Piece Ginger roughly chopped<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 Tbl Tomato Paste<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 Tbl Desiccated Coconut<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 Tbl Cashews<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 Tbl Coriander leaves<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong>: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Place cashews in a small bowl and add water until just covered. Allow to soak 10 mins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Place the cumin and coriander seed in a pan over low heat and dry roast, stirring continually for 2 mins until fragrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remove from the heat and transfer to a food processor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drain Cashews and add to food processor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add remaining ingredients and pulse until it forms a smooth paste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This paste can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This recipe can easily be doubled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Curry is my comfort food, and I love a good, quick curry I can throw into the slow cooker or pressure cooker on a busy night when I don&#8217;t have much time to get dinner on the table, but I don&#8217;t want to buy take-away.
